Ongoing Progress at Multi-Phase J&J Project

Our experienced sitework crews continue to impress at the J&J World Headquarters connectivity project in New Brunswick, NJ. These central plaza walkway improvements mark the beginning phase of many more phases to come at this site.

So far, the Nicholson team was responsible for the excavation, removal of trees, and preservation of the existing pavers, which will be reused to meet the edge of the new walk. A curved cast-in-place concrete retaining wall with a 4” granite veneer will be a main feature of the project. This granite will match the existing granite wall to keep a uniform and cohesive look throughout the central plaza.

Reinforced concrete pipe is being laid to tie into the storm drainage system, and the trench roller is compacting the aggregate before backfilling with in-situ soil. We are also laying the aggregate and setting the grade prior to pouring the concrete walk subbase.

Coming up next, the exposed aggregate concrete will be poured, and the salvaged pavers will be placed. Stay tuned for further progress updates from this exciting job site.
